Dennis Maguire

Paramount Home Entertainment

TITLE: President of international

LEADERSHIP: The former head of Disney’s international DVD operations, Maguire is now responsible for the sale, marketing and distribution of Paramount’s home entertainment content in all countries outside the United States and Canada.

He also oversees Paramount’s international efforts for MTV Network Properties, CBS, PBS and Hasbro, and fulfillment services for DreamWorks Animation Home Entertainment. He additionally handles the division’s overseas licensee business, retail initiatives and homevideo operations.

Among MPA-sanctioned homevid distribs, Par narrowly trailed the rest of the majors in share of the international market through the first three quarters of the year, with an 8% tally, according to sales stats for the first three quarters of 2007, compiled by research firm Media Control GfK.

Par stands to move up in those rankings during the fourth quarter, driven by a flurry of tentpole hits reaching their DVD window that include “Transformers” and “Shrek the Third.”

In terms of sheer DVD sales volume, the U.K. and Australia have been Paramount’s biggest successes. Maguire says he’s excited about a recent agreement with Warner Home Video, whereby Warner will distribute Par and DreamWorks Animation titles in China starting with “Transformers” and “Shrek the Third.”

POV: “We have many new employees who have brought a lot of fresh thinking to the company, as well as an experienced team who give us invaluable insights on a daily basis,” Maguire says. “We’re also focused on making Paramount Home Entertainment a destination for great talents to work and grow.”
