Antena 3 launches mobile service

BARCELONA — New Spanish broadcaster Cuatro has inked with YouTube to Webcast a Cuatro-branded channel on the vid sharing service from Friday.

Cuatro’s boarding of YouTube comes as established Spanish broadcaster Antena 3 announced Thursday that it is launching a mobile TV version of its YouTube-styleTuClip.com on Vodafone Live! TV, the mobilecasting TV service of cell-phone operator Vodafone.

Cuatro will supply promos and excerpts of its flagship hits — such as latenight yakker “Noche Hache” and satire sketch show “El hormiguero” — as well as popular videoclips posted on its Cuatro.com Web site.

Showcasing viewers’ viral videos, the most curious of which are already broadcast on Antena 3 TV programs, Antena 3’s Tu.Clip launched as a Web site in late January, receiving 300,000 visits in its first month of existence, the broadcaster claimed.

Antena 3 is offering the mobile TV version of Tu.Clip free on Vodafone live! TV until May 1.

Vodafone live! TV, which costs subscribers a monthly $4, already offers a Best of Antena 3 channel featuring five-minute mobisodes of its top shows for Euros 6 ($8) a month.
