Latino-focused digital media company Voy has signed a deal to program six channels for Joost, the new online video company from the founders of Internet phone service Skype.
Voy will use a mix of original content, some that has already appeared on its site and some that it has used with other partners to program on-demand channels in categories such as Latino filmmakers, celebs and lowrider culture.
Company is looking to build its business by distributing content across a broad array of broadband video services.
“We have always been cross platform and have looked at the Internet video distribution platforms as a natural place for us to go,” Voy topper Fernando Espuelas said.
Joost uses peer-to-peer technology to create a TV-like experience with channels distributed via broadband pipes.
