David Ring has been charged with maximizing e-business opportunities for Universal Music Group labels and artists.
Ring has been named exec VP of business development and business affairs for eLabs, the UMG unit responsible for the company’s electronic commerce initiatives, Internet exploitation and new-technology business opportunities worldwide.
He will be working with Rio Caraeff, the eLabs exec VP who is general manager of Universal Music Mobile.
Prior to joining UMG 11 years ago, Ring was in private practice representing recording artists, labels, writers and producers. He has worked as an associate at the Los Angeles law firms of Phillips, Nizer, Benjamin, Krim & Riley and Rosenberg, Nagler & Phillips, where he handled intellectual property and business litigation with an emphasis on music and other entertainment-related issues.
