Starbucks brews ‘SNL’ DVD

Coffee giant teams with NBC on deal

Starbucks is adding to its in-store DVD collection: The coffee retailer’s entertainment arm has inked a deal with NBC Universal Television Distribution to begin selling a compilation of “Saturday Night Live” skits in August.

“Saturday Night Live: The Best of ‘06-’07” also will feature the “Black Tie” episode of NBC’s “30 Rock” and previously unseen footage from both shows, including an uncensored version of Justin Timberlake’s “D**k in a Box” sketch.

DVD bows exclusively in Starbucks’ stores Aug. 28.

Exclusive DVD pact is the first with a retailer for NBC U TV Distribution. DVD package was produced by Broadway Video Enterprises and NBC Universal.

“We recognize that it’s a changing marketplace, and Starbucks offers a unique opportunity to reach our audience in a new way,” said Shelli Hill, VP, video, music and product development for NBCU TV Distribution.
