Power Challenge raises $8 million

Funds will develop online sports games

Online sports videogame company Power Challenge has raised $8 million from Silicon Valley venture capital firm Benchmark Capital.

Sweden-based company currently offers two online games, Power Challenge and Manager Zone, that let gamers play or run, respectively, a soccer team in an online multi-player environment.

Power Challenge plans to use the funds to develop other online sports games, as well as further develop its current games and grow its global infrastructure.

Online multi-player game market has traditionally focused on the fantasy genre, like “World of Warcraft,” but is growing into other areas like sports.
