New head for home entertainment unit
MGM has named Erik Lomis exec VP of international theatrical and home entertainment.
Lomis will oversee the marketing and distribution of international theatrical and homevid releases, which are handled by Fox. He will act as the primary executive working closely with the worldwide team at Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment as well as the theatrical team at Twentieth Century Fox Intl.
From 2000-05 Lomis was prexy of domestic distribution, serving as part of the greenlight committee and overseeing distribution for “Legally Blonde,” “Barber Shop” and four of the James Bond franchise pics. He also acted as a consultant on domestic and foreign marketing and distribution of feature films via his firm Movie Concepts.
Lomis will report to MGM chief operating officer Rick Sands.
“As the international marketplace’s appetite for our filmed entertainment product continues to grow, Erik will serve not only as a strategist for activities but also as an ambassador,” said Sands.
Prior to MGM, Lomis was the head of the national film department at United Artists Theaters, as well as the head film buyer at Sameric in Philadelphia, where he was also responsible for real estate development.
