‘Halo’ short makes it online

Blomkamp created mini film as 'Halo 3' ad

The “Halo” feature film may be on indefinite hold, but Neil Blomkamp is still shooting “Halo” movies.

South African helmer, personally selected by exec producer Peter Jackson to direct the “Halo” pic when it was set up at Fox and Universal, debuted a live-action short at Microsoft’s E3 press conference to promote the upcoming “Halo 3” game.

The two-minute “Halo: Arms Race” shows real actors putting on gear and getting into vehicles that fans will recognize from the ultra-popular game franchise.

It has already popped up on YouTube and other sites, giving gamers a glimpse of the “Halo” movie that almost happened. It’s also a sign that Jackson is working with Blomkamp on a previously announced “interactive experience” tied to the “Halo” universe.
