Jeff Siegel, an MTV veteran, has been tapped by FremantleMedia as VP of home entertainment, effective immediately. He will be charged with managing the company’s current catalog in the Americas and maximizing opportunities for its library. He also will be responsible for identifying and exploiting digital download opportunities with appropriate partners.
Siegel will be based in New York and report directly to FremantleMedia CEO David Ellender, who is based in London.
Fremantle, which is British-based, owns the copyright on shows as diverse as “American Idol,” “The Price Is Right” and cop series “The Bill.”
“I’ll be taking a look at both our diverse back catalog as well as our amazing new franchises like ‘Live From Abbey Road’ and the ‘IT Crowd,’ ” Siegel told Daily Variety.
Prior to joining FremantleMedia, Siegel was senior director, Home Entertainment Worldwide, for MTV Networks, where he led global product lines and digital video downloads for the various cable channels in the group. Siegel was involved in the creation of the “Aeon Flux” DVD. Prior to this, Siegel held senior positions at New Video Group and MPI Home Video.
