Dr. Mark F. Davis and Kevin Stec of Dolby Laboratories have been honored by the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) for respective contributions to their craft.

Davis, a senior research and development engineer, will receive the Samuel L. Warner Memorial Medal Award for, among other accomplishments, his role in developing multichannel digital sound on film.

Stec, director of image and technology research, was tapped for the fellowship for his successful career overseeing digital cinema and broadcast image processing, as well as video format conversion, for which he was awarded an Emmy in 2000.

Davis and Stec received their honors at the 2007 SMPTE Technical Conference & Exhibition in Brooklyn, New York.
