What you take away from a CNN list of celebrity donors is that there still is a lot of multiple giving going on.
Call it hedging, call it making safe bets, or call it simply altruistic. Many celebrities gave to several different candidates.
Even Steven Spielberg, who endorsed Hillary Clinton in early June, gave to Bill Richardson, albeit before he announced that he was giving her his nod. And Jeffrey Katzenberg, who endorsed Barack Obama, gave to Clinton and to Chris Dodd.
Jodie Foster, who gave Clinton, also gave to Obama and Richardson.
Here’s more on the list of donors, according to CNN: Barack Obama also got donations from Cedric the Entertainer (who emceed an event for him), George Clooney, Adam Arkin, David Sutcliffe, Bruce Hornsby, Tom Skerritt and Eriq LaSalle. Hillary Clinton also collected from Pauly Shore and Lily Tomlin.
Sharon Lawrence gave to Clinton and John Edwards.
Oliver Stone gave to John Edwards — but he also was at an Obama event in April. Other Edwards donors included Ben Stiller (who also gave to Clinton) and Mary Steenburgen (who has supported Clinton).
Bill Richardson got a healthy infusion of money from Hollywood, having held multiple fund-raisers in the second quarter. He got funds from Paul Newman (who also gave to Clinton and Obama), Val Kilmer, Michael Douglas, Bette Midler and Sherry Lansing and William Friedkin (they hosted a Richardson fund-raiser).
Dennis Kucinich and Mike Gravel are waging quixotic campaigns, but Gravel got money from Mark Ruffalo and Kucinich from Alexandra Paul, Hector Elizondo and Deirdre Hall.
And Rudy Giuliani collected donations from Tony Sirico and Melissa Gilbert.
