Oprah to Campaign for Obama

Since I’ve been on the subject of stars on the stump comes the news that Oprah Winfrey will indeed be hitting the campaign trail for Barack Obama.

It’s been rumored for quite some time, but the Chicago Sun-Times’ Lynn Sweet reports that Obama told a supporter in Manchester, N.H., that Winfrey would campaign for him.

Sweet writes: “A man, Ralph Hoagland, asked Obama—who was mingling and shaking hands– if Oprah was going to stump for Obama in New Hampshire.

“First she’s coming to Iowa,” Obama told Hoagland, who in 1963 was a co-founder of what is now the giant CVS pharmacy chain. “But we’ll talk about it. We’ll get her up here.”

A woman piped up. “We need her here.”

“Is she thinking of not coming up to New Hampshire?” Hoagland asked?

Obama replied, “No, no no. We’re just doing it one state at a time.”

An Obama spokesman said that nothing has been confirmed.

  1. Oprah is soooooo overrated. It reminds me of the book by Laura Ingraham “Shut Up & Sing” Who cares what Oprah thinks? She exploits people’s pain everyday for a living like a $5.00 hooker. She’s like the office gossip. She puts that feel sorry for you face on that is so phony to me. Ratings, Ratings, Ratings. When she graduates from college with a Political Science Degree & works her rear end off studying political issues, then she “may” have some credibility. Until then leave the so called “Stars” out of politics & vice versa. Just what is Oprah’s talent, besides manipulation of people’s emotions? She reminds me of a street person preying on people’s weaknesses. Wolf in sheep’s clothing. Because she was molested gives her political credibility? She was only molested by one person for heaven sake. The rest of the world seems to love her. What a waste. She builds schools, etc. for tax write offs & people think she’s awsome. Go figure. At least Pam Anderson is sexy doing the same sales job (of herself). She lucked out in A Color Purple getting a part where she could just play herself. Her second movies proved she has no talent as an actress. Oprah probably lays awake at night wondering what else she can do for attention. Lets put Condi Rice on a pedestal instead. At least regarding politics she has some creditibility, but Oprah, from a Chicago Ghetto???? I think not. Ask Clarence Thomas his political opinions. He studies it.
