At the McGraw Hill Companies’ Media Summit today, the News Corp. chairman said that he doubts whether he will support her presidential campaign but found her “very considerable and very intelligent.” Murdoch held a fund raiser for Clinton’s Senate reelection bid last year, and said that she was “very impressive in the way she handled issues, and sidestepped them.” She’s “calculating…she leaves her options open. She’s very careful in her use of words.” He shrugged off the fund raiser he held for her, saying, “Some people in my office wanted me to.”
He did say that he wanted to meet Barack Obama.
Murdoch said that the prospect of supporting New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg for President was “really tempting,” noting that it could cost Bloomberg $1 billion, “which apparently doesn’t worry him.”
Murdoch’s dream candidate? Newt Gingrich. He called him “Brilliant.” Neither Bloomberg nor Gingrich are in the race, yet.
