May Day

Why don’t they just go ahead and schedule a debate?

Hillary Clinton and Rudolph Giuliani — front runners for in their respective party’s nominations — have set May 30 for industry fund-raisers.

As we’ve reported here before, Clinton’s event will be at the home of Peter Chernin, with Steven Spielberg and Haim Saban as co-hosts.

Giuliani, meanwhile, will be guest of honor at a fund-raiser at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

This will not be the first time that candidates have passed each other as they court donors. On Sunday, Barack Obama and Clinton just missed each other as they held gatherings within hours of each other on L.A..’s westside.

Plans are in the works for another Obama fund-raiser on June 11.
