Lear Group on Falwell’s Passing

Producer Norman Lear was one of the founders of People for the American Way in 1981 to counter the growing influence of televangelists like Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson.

The current president of People for the American Way, Ralph G. Neas, issued this statement today: "We extend our condolences to Rev. Jerry Falwell’s family and friends. He was an effective advocate for his vision of America, a vision with which we strongly disagreed."

They do, however, offer links to some of Falwell’s more outrageous comments.
