On their trips to Los Angeles for the Human Rights Campaign/Logo gay issues forum on Aug. 9, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are naturally using the opportunity to raise money.

After she finishes the forum, Clinton will appear at an event at the Abbey in West Hollywood, where Brent Bolthouse and David Cooley are hosting a $50-per-person screening party. There also will be a $1,000-per-person VIP reception. Obama is planning some kind of event aimed at young Hollywood, but plans have not been finalized.

It’s expected that other candidates in the forum, like John Edwards and Bill Richardson, also will plan events tied to the debate.

The forum itself is causing a bit of a ruckus as there are very few seats. I’ve heard only about 100 in the Studio City venue where it will be held. Apparently it’s already filled.

Meanwhile, there is yet another candidates forum on the schedule: Keith Olbermann of MSNBC will moderate an AFL-CIO event on Aug. 7, reports Michael Learmonth over at our sister blog On the Air.
