Bloomberg Leaves GOP

More evidence of a presidential bid?

A day after giving a speech in Los Angeles which he said “it all begins with independence,” New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg says that he is leaving the Repoublican party. He’s now unaffiliated with any party.

Arnold Schwarzenegger appeared with Bloomberg this morning at the USC Annenberg event at CAA in Century City, and said that Bloomberg would make an “excellent candidate” for president.

According to the AP, Bloomberg joked, “There would be a fight to see who would be the presidential candidate and who would be the vice presidential candidate. He would want to arm wrestle for the top spot; I would want to check the Constitution.”

Schwarzenegger made a point of mentioning that he was still a “proud Republican.” The full text of his speech is here.
