At Fox News, An Even Bigger Oops

CNN can take solace that at least its mistake could be explained as a technical glitch.

House Judiciary Chairman John Conyers (D-Mich.), a well known figure in entertainment/political circles, was none too pleased with Fox News’s explanation of how it confused him in video footage with now-indicted Rep. William Jefferson (D-La.). The error was made on Monday, with breaking news of Jefferson’s indictment.

“Fox News has a history of inappropriate on-air mistakes that are neither fair, nor balanced,” Conyers said in a statement, according to the Hill. “This type of disregard for people of color should no longer be tolerated.”

An anchor said, “We mistakenly ran the wrong video to accompany this story, and we apologize for that error.” But that wasn’t enough for Conyers.

“I am personally offended by the network’s complete disregard for accuracy in reporting and lackluster on-air apology,” said Conyers.
