Technicolor Madrid taps Baquero

Veteran producer to manage sales

BARCELONA — Technicolor Madrid has tapped seasoned producer Piluca Baquero as its new marketing and sales manager for Spain.

Baquero’s lengthy producer career stretches back from last year’s San Sebastian competition player, Javier Rebollo’s “Lola,” to further directorial debuts such as Enrique Gabriel’s “Hitting Bottom” and Gonzalo Tapia’s “Lena.”

For the past four years, she served as an executive producer at the Valencia-based Malvarosa Media. Baquero will now seek to expand Technicolor’s already-considerable client base in Spain.

“Now that I’m on the other side, I’m sure my 20 years experience as a producer will help me to understand the needs of film production,” Baquero said. “We’re in a growth period. International shoots are increasing in Spain and with the new laboratories opening, we’re servicing more international co-productions.”

Baquero replaces Maite Fernandez, who’s been appointed commercial manager at post-production company Telson. A worldwide provider of services to the media and entertainment industries, Technicolor is part of the services division of Thomson.
