SAG has promoted business rep Mark Friedlander to director of new media, a slot in which he’ll the Guild’s newly formed new media department.
Friedlander will report to Pamm Fair, SAG’s deputy national executive director. The new media department is assigned to work closely with the Guild’s new technologies, interactive contract, and organizing committees, as well as negotiating committees for all SAG contracts and the newly formed national joint new media subcommittee.
Friedlander came to the Guild in 2005 as a representative in the contracts department, specializing in theatrical, new media and interactive projects. Prior to SAG, he was an entertainment attorney.
SAG members assessed themselves a dues increase earlier this year, partly to fund a new media department to deal with the explosive growth in digital platforms. SAG’s current film-TV contract with studio and nets expires on June 30, 2008.
