Rally Friday at NBC Burbank, featuring John Edwards

Edwards Democratic presidential contender John Edwards will become the first candidate to visit the Writers Guild picket lines, when he visits the NBC lot this Friday.

According to the WGA, Edwards will appear outside NBC’s Burbank headquarters around 1:45 p.m.

As a result, the WGA has told striking scribes that they’ll only be picketing the other studios tomorrow between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. Strikers can then head over to NBC Burbank, while the 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. shifts have been told they should report to the Peacock (rather than their usual studio) in order to take part in a larger rally, and see Edwards in person.

Ted Johnson has more over at Wilshire and Washington. (By the way, don’t confuse the presidential candidate with John Edward, who perhaps should be called in to channel a few deceased Hollywood leaders and glean advice on how to solve this crisis.)

Also, the WGA continues to make plans for next Tuesday’s “Solidarity March for Writers” in Hollywood. After that, the picket lines will be dark from the day before Thanksgiving until the following Monday.

These strikes never really seem to work out well for either side.

As a Lawyer in Burbank I have seen many abuses , it’s time for a change.

  3. Neil the Ethical Werewolf says:

I was wondering how long it’d take for John Edwards to show up! Good for you guys — I’m sure he’ll give a good speech and attract positive media coverage.

It is nice to know that so many of you are having such a good time striking. Too bad that all that fun is lost on many of the IATSE members (as well as many of the other guilds) who are currently scrambling to support their families. Perhaps one of you can help me fill out the home equity loan that I will have to acquire and subsequently run dry. If not, then maybe you could scribble out a letter from Santa to my 3 year old explaining that many of the joys of the holiday season may be lost on him this year. I know you will have to do this from the dire surrounding of your personal multi-million dollar domicile and not from a studio bungalow but I’m sure you can hammer it out.
When and if we do get back to work know that when close your powerbook and hop out of your Herman Miller chair to go home I will probably be half way through MY 18 hour day trying to pay off that loan………..Great job guys. More money! More Money!
Oh….before I forget…..thanks for all your support when the position of the camera operator was abolished in OUR last negotiations.
