CDG, AGD under same roof

Designers to share building with Guild

The Costume Designers Guild has signed a six-year lease to occupy the first floor of the three-story Studio City building owned by and housing the offices of the Art Directors Guild & Scenic, Title and Graphic Artists.

The CDG, which operates as IATSE Local 892, has 700 members, while the ADG, operating as IATSE Local 800, has more than 1,500.

The guilds have redubbed the location the Intl. Center of Design for the Moving Image.

“It is immensely fitting for the memberships in our respective professions, who have vast respect for each other’s talents, to have their guild offices housed in the same building,” said ADG topper Tom Walsh.

CDG exec director Cheryl Downey said, “Putting these two design powerhouses under one roof is a natural fit.”

The ADG purchased the 17,500-square-foot building in 2005. It’s located on Ventura Boulevard next to CBS Studio Center.
