Management company cuts pop princess loose
In the latest bit of fallout from her much-derided appearance on the MTV Video Music Awards, Britney Spears has been dropped as a client by management company The Firm. Spears had been signed recently by The Firm co-head Jeff Kwatinetz, who was planning to spearhead a comeback by the freefalling pop star.
“It saddens us to confirm media reports that we have terminated our professional relationship with Britney Spears,” The Firm said in a statement. “We have represented Britney for the past month. We believe Britney is enormously talented, and has made a terrific record. But current circumstances have prevented us from properly doing our job. We wish Britney the best.”
Earlier this year, Endeavor discharged Paris Hilton after she was jailed for a probation violation in June, following two years of repping the heiress.
