Small world

Variety‘s Dea Lawrence had just told me of a docu she and Saratoga Ballantine are producing, “Troupers,” about Hollywood thesps who remain active through age 80.

The list already interviewed includes: Harold Gould, Kaye Ballard, Pat Carroll, Jane Kean, Carl Ballantine (Saratoga’s father), Marvin Kaplan, Bruce Kirby, Connie Sawyer, Betty Garrett, Ivy Bethune and Justine Johnston.

At the same time I got word that Allan Rich, 80, had just returned from Florida filming “My Sexiest Year.” It’s Rich’s 68th film.

In “Sexiest” he plays Frankie Muniz’s grandfather and Frances Fisher’s father. Harvey Keitel stars as Frances’ divorced husband and Frankie’s father. Christopher McDonald is also in the pic.

Howard Himelstein debut-directs. Rich tells me “Frances Fisher is the  best actress I’ve ever worked with.”

Rich’ll also next be seen in “Rise,” “Alibi,” “and “The Man In The Chair.”

Dea Lawrence will now add Allan to their “Troupers” docu.

Just off the top of my head, you could also add the names of Dick Van Dyke and Mickey Rooney from A Night at the Museum, Jerry Lewis, Beatrice Arthur, Betty White, and Tony Curtis. All over the age of 80!

this docu sounds absolutely fantastic. These older actors have a lot to say and this sounds like tis going to be hysterical. Cant wait to see it.
