Show(s) must go on

The hurricane season has officially started — and New Orleans’ showbiz is also blowing back into town.

The Improv’s founder and owner Budd Friedman is readying a return, June 7, to the Improv in New Orleans’ Harrah’s casino.

After Katrina struck and the blocks-long casino was untouched by the storm, Harrah’s became headquarters for the National Guard and police, reports Friedman.

The first headliner at the new Improv will be Dat Than who will do one show nightly for five nights in the 500-seat theater.

Budd, no slouch at comedy, hosts the show. He continues on to the Improv in Hollywood, Florida, June 9  for its 2nd anniversary celebration — it’s the 21st Improv and several more are on the immediate plotting board as the country demonstrates it can use laughs these days.
