Good Teaming

George Clooney always had a mini basketball court set up on the WB lot whenever he was there shooting “ER” or a feature — until the time he injured his back, that is. Now, Clooney and Grant Heslov, producer and co-writer of the multi-nominated “Good Night, and Good Luck,” are teamed again and shooting more than baskets — they are currently filming a presentation for HBO based on the world of pro basketball. It’s part of the Clooney-Heslov-Section Eight-Steven Soderbergh banner.

The untitled comedy series is being made with Malouf Entertainment and with the blessing of the NBA. Pro basketballers set so far are Vlade Divac and Don Nelson; Jameel Pugh will play the rookie in the so far untitled series. I’ll bet Clooney will also find his way on the court at one time or another. Clooney, Heslov and Soderbergh were also teamed on their Section Eight “K Street” series for HBO.
