2 George W’s.

We’ll be seeing two George W.’s when “An American Celebration At Ford’s Theatre –The July 4 Special” airs 10 p.m. July 4 on ABC. In the audience will be the real George W.,with wife Laura. And on stage in the cast of the special, Steve Bridges. His look-and-sound-alike of the President is a show-stopper.

Exec Producer Gil Cates says he’s confident Bridges will use “appropriate material — he’s a good guy.” The special tapes Sunday, June 25 for airing on the 4th.  And, of course, there’s time to edit any part of the live show before air time.

Cates, who has headed the special seven times (and the Oscars 16) also assembled this cast: Tom Selleck as host and singer Heather Headley, who sings “In My Mind” for airing and “God Bless The Child” as an extra for the “live” audience in the Ford Theatre. Also Kevin Nealon of “SNL” and “Weeds,” Renee Olstead, Lone Star, Chris Botti and Josh Turner. Other veterans of the Oscar team delivering this show are Dennis Doty, producer and Louis J.Horvitz, director.

There was some collective breath-holding Friday when the Washington D.C. storm caused a power outage at the Ford Theatre as the TV show was heading into the final stretch. Stay tuned.
