TVE books rights to preschool skein

Skein also sold to Boomerang, RTP

Spanish pubcaster TVE has acquired Spanish free-to-air rights to preschool animated series “Pocoyo,” co-produced by Spain’s Zinkia Entertainment and the U.K.’s Granada Intl.

“Pocoyo,” which this month won TV production kudos at the 30th Annecy Intl. Animated Film Festival, also has been sold to Spanish pay TV kids channel Boomerang and Portuguese pubcaster RTP.

The 3-D CGI series follows the adventures of a boy and his colorful band of friends.

Framed as 52, seven-minute episodes, “Pocoyo” has been licensed to more than 100 TV operators, including Disney Asia, the U.K.’s C-ITV, Canada’s Treehouse TV, Australia’s ABC, Germany’s Kika and Japan’s WowWow.

Zinkia has closed ancillary agreements with toy producer Bandai for Europe, as well as publishing groups Planeta and Random House.
