“9 a.m. With David & Kim” will replace the long-running “GMA” (Good Morning Australia) on Network Ten, execs announced Thursday.
“GMA” was axed in December after 14 years due to declining audience. Host Bert Newton defected to Channel Nine.
Skein, which bows Jan. 30, will appeal to a younger demo with hosts Kim Watkins and David Reyne. Latter was poached from Nine Network’s travel skein “Getaway.”
Ten’s production and development topper Tim Clucas said: “We ended ‘GMA’s’ run because it no longer appealed to the network’s broad daytime audience. We needed a fresh show with dynamic, young hosts who could relate to that audience.”
