Rotana seals content deal with ACKS

Arab satcaster pacts with Dutch TV distrib

LONDON — Saudi Prince Waleed bin Talal’s Arab media titan Rotana will see its TV content distributed across Europe via a $25 million deal with Dutch TV distrib ACKS.

Free-to-air satcaster Rotana currently has two movie and four music channels that beam around the Mideast.

“Under this agreement, Rotana will bring to Europe premium Arabic entertainment encompassing music, movies, popular TV programs and on-demand digital services,” commented Yousef Mugharbil, Rotana’s G.M. of digital media.

Rotana inked with music distrib the Orchard on Oct. 27 to handle its massive catalog of Arab music worldwide and mobile phone giant Nokia on Nov. 1 to partner up on providing Rotana artists’ content on Nokia phones.
