Satcaster closes deal with Management Group

Teuton paybox Premiere has extended its rights for Formula 1 motor racing through 2007, as it seeks to sew up high-profile sports content following the loss of Bundesliga soccer late last year.

The Munich-based satcaster closed the deal with Bernie Ecclestone’s Formula 1 Management Group.

F1 racing attracts some 1.7 million viewers for Premiere on average, making the races one of the most-watched events on the paybox.

The broadcaster airs Formula 1 on several channels, giving viewers the opportunity to switch between the race, cockpit and statistics channels as well as providing highlights and interactive channels.
