Oz ‘Greenlight’ gets a second go

Reality skein goes Down Under

Production company Screentime announced on Monday that it will produce a second season of the Aussie “Project Greenlight” skein, based on Matt Damon and Ben Affleck’s effort to unearth new filmmaking talent.

Series follows a group of would-be helmers competing for A$1 million ($770,000) in production coin as they work on their scripts.

In the new season, contestants will also have to produce a short film, with the winner to be decided by a judging panel of industryites and a public vote.

The first season received more than 1,200 entries. The winner, Morgan O’Neill, will see his film “Solo” — a crime drama starring Colin Friels and Vince Colosimo — bow at the Sydney Film Festival on June 10 before a theatrical release by Dendy Films starting July 6.
