NEW YORK — Christopher Ottinger has been tapped exec VP at Fox World, the international arm of Fox Television Studios.
Ottinger is responsible for the unit’s foreign activities, with oversight over local format production, international co-production and Fox TV Studios’ foreign offshoots — Scream in the U.K., Fox World Australia and NHNZ in New Zealand.
He replaces Daniela Welteke, who left the company several months ago, having served in a similar role since 2000. He reports to Fox Television Studios prexy Angela Shapiro-Mathes.
Prior to joining Fox, Ottinger was senior VP of business development and co-production at CBS Paramount Intl. TV, where he hatched formats of “Entertainment Tonight,” “Wheel of Fortune,” “Jeopardy” and “America’s Next Top Model,” among others. Ottinger also co-developed “The Dead Zone” and the “Messiah” miniseries and set up co-financing arrangements for “The 4400” and “Threshold.”
Before Paramount, Ottinger served as exec director, business affairs, at MGM Intl. TV.
Fox TV Studios supplies the major U.S. and international broadcast and cable networks. Current series include “The Shield” and “Thief” (a co-production with Regency premiering in March) for FX, “The Girls Next Door” for E! and “Inked” for A&E.
