Bo knows ads, sez Sony

NBC Universal Domestic TV Distribution has hired Barbara “Bo” Argentino to run its Gotham-based ad sales department.

Argentino has resigned as head of Sony Pictures TV’s advertiser-solutions operation; at NBC U, she’ll become senior VP of advertising and media sales, replace the departing Chris Kager.

One of her priorities, Argentino said, is to ramp up interest along Madison Avenue in NBC U syndicated yakker “The Megan Mullally Show,” premiering in the fall.

Other shows in her sales portfolio are “Maury,” “The Jerry Springer Show” and “The Chris Matthews Show.” NBC U Domestic distributes “Martha,” the talkshow hosted by Martha Stewart, but the national-advertising time on the series gets sold by Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia.

Argentino has spent the past 13 years as Sony Pictures TV, rising to head of the ad sales group before shifting to the advertiser-solutions division, which offered media buyers a schedule across a number of Sony platforms, not just shows in TV syndication.

Before Sony, she was an account executive with NBC from 1992-94.
