Lifetime has moved frosh series “Cheerleader Nation” out of its Sunday-at-10 primetime perch after just three airings.
Reality skein about high school cheerleaders foundered against steep Sunday night competition from “Grey’s Anatomy.”
Skein debuted March 12 to a modest 1.6 million viewers. By the third week, Lifetime had reclocated premiere episodes to Sundays at 7 with a repeat at 10.
When ratings didn’t improve, women’s net then quietly moved the show to 7 on Fridays. First airing in that timeslot on March 31 yielded just 779,000 total viewers.
Fox TV Studios-produced “Cheerleader Nation” received a multimillion-dollar marketing push. Skein is the sort of younger-skewing original that entertainment topper Susanne Daniels has promised to program on Lifetime. “Cheerleader Nation” was the first of her efforts to launch.
