ITV appoints designer for VOD player

U.K. broadcaster hires U.S. digital agency Schematic

LONDON — ITV, the U.K.’s biggest private terrestrial broadcaster, has appointed U.S. digital agency Schematic to design a video-demand Web site and digital media player.

ITV plans to have its own iPlayer and remodeled Web site up and running by the end of March.

It will enable auds to watch simulcasts of live ITV shows and catch up on fare that has already been transmitted.

“Broadband is the next mass-market platform for delivery of both television to viewers and services to advertisers,” said Jane Marshall, ITV Consumer’s commercial development director.

“With some of the U.K.’s most popular content, we are confident ITV has an incredibly strong consumer proposition online.”

Los Angeles-based Schematic’s other clients include ABC, MTV, CNN and Turner.
