Web nabs Socceroos' home game rights for 7 years
In a country where too much sports is never enough, paybox Foxtel and regional paybox Austar have added another dedicated sports channel as a platform for the recently inked broadcast deal with Football Federation Australia.
Fox Sports paid A$120 million ($89 million) last month for TV rights to all home games of Oz’s national soccer team, the Socceroos, for seven years, taking the sport from free-to-air TV for the first time.
Premier Media Group, which owns and operates all the Fox Sports services, said the new net will join its two sister channels in October with 24-hour sports and interactive features.
PMG topper David Malone said, “Fox Sports 3 reinforces our ongoing commitment to providing Australian viewers with more live, relevant and Australian sport than any other broadcaster in this country.”
