Deals will bring 150 hours to screens in Eastern Europe
Scandinavia-based TV format distributor Zodiak Television World is expanding into Central and Eastern Europe.
A series of deals will bring more than 150 hours to screens in Poland, Romania, Russia, Ukraine and the Slovak Republic within one year.
Deals follow Zodiak Television Group’s acquisition of a 35% stake in Polish production outfit Zebra Media.
With production companies in Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland, Zodiak has defined Eastern Europe as a key market for international expansion.
“With the region experiencing 20%-30% market growth, local production is one of the main drivers for broadcasters to retain market share from their competitors,” said Jan Salling, CEO of Zodiak Television World and area manager for the territory.
The latest deals include licenses for scripted comedy format “Team Antonsen” (Romanian Prima TV and Polish Polsat ), soccer feel-good reality format “FC Nerds” (Prima TV), primetime entertainment show “Shopoholics” (Romanian Antena 1 and Slovakian Markiza), reality show “Fit for Family” (Ukrainian ICTV), historical reality show “The Empire” (Russian ORT) and gamer “Opposite Sex” (Polish TVP2).
