Pact gives Discovery, TSN, RDS exclusive b'cast rights

Hockey Canada and CTV Specialty Television have renewed their partnership with a multiyear deal.

New seven-year pact gives CTV specialty subsids Discovery Canada and sports networks TSN (Canada’s top-rated specialty channel) and RDS (the first French-language all-sports web) exclusive Canuck broadcast rights to Hockey Canada events.

They also can distribute the programming to other CTV-owned nets, including NHL Network and ESPN Classic.

Hockey Canada events include the World Junior Championships, Women’s World Championships, World Under-17 Championships and World Men’s Under-18 Championships.

Financial details of the deal, which runs 2007-14, were not available.

Hockey Canada and CTV Specialty Television have had a broadcast relationship since 1991.
