Teen-friendly Channel One News, which recently decamped from Los Angeles to set up shop in D.C., will partner with local media staffing and management company TeamPeople to help build out a flagship bureau in the nation’s capital.
TeamPeople will provide production, transmission and support services for Channel One via a state-of-the-art studio, company said.
Prominent among independent television companies in the Mid-Atlantic region, TeamPeople employs a staff of more than 200.
Channel One — which claims an aud of 7 million, or about 30% of teens in schools — won a 2004 Peabody Award for its reporting on the civil war in Sudan. The network will keep its L.A. bureau, but main operations will be located in D.C. and will be ready for business before the start of the 2006-07 school year.
