The Canadian Film Center has launched Canada’s first TV Pilot Program to train creators and producers.
Program “bridges a gap in the broadcast industry for testing new talent and new series ideas,” said Slawko Klymkiw, executive director of the CFC.
Up to three of the projects each year will be produced by the Film Center into half-hour broadcast-quality pilots with the potential to be aired and later picked up by Canadian webs.
Ten Canuck broadcasters participate in the selection process. This year, two CFC TV Pilot Program projects are being produced for Canuck webs CBC Television and CTV/the Comedy Network.
“For CTV and the Comedy Network, the collaboration with the Film Center is a great way to have young producers and writers put our money where their mouth is,” said Brent Haynes, director of programming for the Comedy net.
