The Food Network is looking to increase its primetime ratings by taking its skeins outside the confines of the kitchen.
“Food Network Nighttime: Way More Than Cooking,” announced at the net’s upfront Monday, will be the umbrella title of Food’s primetime lineup featuring new series — generally taking place in the field — including “Throwdown with Bobby Flay,” “Two for the Road” and “Paula’s Cooking Party.”
“Way More Than Cooking” will be the net’s equivalent of Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim and Nickelodeon’s Nick at Night.
New daytime series include “Healthy Appetite With Ellie Krieger”; “Nigella Feasts,” with U.K. host Nigella Lawson; and “Tyler’s Ultimate,” featuring Tyler Florence.
Net also will launch two limited series, a show featuring the winner of its “Next Food Network Star 2” and “Feasting on Asphalt,” hosted by Alton Brown, as well as a special titled “Food Network Caters Your Las Vegas Wedding.”
