Thesps out of water at 'Poseidon' preem

HOLLYWOOD — At the May 10 preem for “Poseidon,” helmer Wolfgang Petersen said he wanted the pic to be “like heavy metal rock ‘n’ roll: no fat, lean, grab the audience by the throat and never let them go.”

However, being let go was joked about at the after-party, as a tough shoot in debris-filled water tanks had some of the thesps asking to be released.

“It was wet, smelly, brutal,” said producer Mike Fleiss. “Richard Dreyfuss kept saying ‘Kill me off! Kill me off!'”

Petersen said the answer was simple: “The guy who is suicidal in the beginning of the movie and then fights for his life, he can’t die.”
