Off B'way musical makes debut

The aud at the Off Broadway tuner “Spring Awakening” — an adaptation of the 1891 Frank Wedekind play with tunes by Duncan Sheik — loved the show at its Thursday opening.

But artists are always perfectionists, aren’t they?

“Well, there were some fuck-ups,” said lyricist and book writer Steven Sater at the party after the performance, before he quickly relented. “Well, no, not really.”

I was the fuck-up,” cracked Sheik.
