A tolerant honoree

Freston in spotlight 'Hip'

HOLLYWOOD — Ron Meyer, Brad Grey, Brian Grazer and Kanye West turned up at the Regent Beverly Wilshire June 7 to honor Humanitarian Award recipient Tom Freston at the Simon Wiesenthal Center’s Museum of Tolerance 2006 national tribute dinner.

Standup Jeffery Ross served as emcee, proclaiming Freston “did so much for Jews just by not being one.”

Grammy winner John Legend provided the entertainment — “a last-minute replacement of the Dixie Chicks, who wanted to be here tonight, but they’re in Fallujah entertaining the insurgents,” Ross quipped.

Jeffery Katzenberg presented Freston with the award, calling him “one of the single coolest executives on the planet,” and “the hippest honoree we’ve ever had.”
