Sweet smell of success

Treat yourself to Le Pink's unique brand of indulgence

When Laura Walden realized her dream of opening a candy shop wasn’t going to pan out, she opted for a grown-up version. Le Pink & Co. is a cotton-candy-colored boutique stuffed with hard-to-find skin-care, bath and beauty products that smell good enough to eat. This April, the beauty apothecary relocated from Echo Park to Silver Lake’s Sunset Junction to make room for more lotions and potions. The treatment room in the back — just behind the shelf of vintage candies — offers a full facial and waxing menu.

THEY SAY

“We carry a lot of stuff from lesser-known companies that aren’t big enough to be sold in Sephora,” says Walden. “Or, maybe don’t want to be sold in Sephora.”

WE SAY

The good It’s hard to find Le Pink’s carefully curated product selection elsewhere. Our favorites: Star & Rose Vanilla Bath Sugar, lemonade-scented Limoncello Eau de Parfum by MOR Cosmetics and the Jaime Ginger Bath Bomb by Bliss of Venice. And a vintage sugar fix (Violet Crumbles, Mallow Cups, Fruit Stripes) is only a face cream away.

The bad Those accustomed to Sephora’s sprawl may feel a little claustrophobic. And since the shop doesn’t specialize in cosmetics, you’ll need to go elsewhere for lipstick, foundation or eyeshadow.

The mood at Le Pink is laid back and the staff never approaches pushy, which can feel like neglect if you don’t already know what you’re looking for.
