Rock n’ roll n’ strip

Are you ready for this Jelly?

Ever see that ’80s video with Mötley Crüe at a strip club? Judging by Royal Jelly, which opened May 3 at Forty Deuce, it made a lasting impression on Ivan Kane.

Kane’s latest burlesque show is like stepping inside a classic rock video without growing a mullet. Three musicians pound out perfect renditions of everything from Rolling Sones to Guns N’ Roses as five ladies prowl, sashay and strip past their skivvies.

“Rock and roll and strippers,” says Kane. “What’s not to like?”

THE GOOD: Larke, Sunny, Molly, Michele and Melanie climb the walls and (barely) wear more than 100 custom costumes (yes, that is a wedding-dress bikini) curated by Kane’s wife and muse, Champagne Suzy. From the first chords of Van Halen’s “Hot For Teacher,” the show seems right out of a high-schooler’s wet dream — or a David Lee Roth biopic.
THE BAD: A stadium-style sound system inside a shoebox-sized club means you’ll want to grab free earplugs at the door. Some will quibble that the songs are too old school and the dancers aren’t double-D porn stars. But the Forty Deuce audience is 60% female, so the natural look is likely appreciated.

Forty Deuce is located at 5574 Melrose Ave. Royal Jelly runs Wednesday nights: doors open at 9:30 p.m.; show starts at 10:30 p.m. sharp. Tickets are $20. Call (323) 462-1144.
