Howard Rosenstone, the veteran Gotham legit agent whose client list included David Mamet, Donald Margulies, Wallace Shawn, Ira Levin, William Finn and Graciela Daniele, died of pulmonary failure in Manhattan June 7. He was 68.
Rosenstone was co-topper of Rosenstone/Wender, the tenpercentary he co-founded in 1981 with Phyllis Wender.
Born in Patterson, NJ, and raised in Suffern, NY, he attended secondary school at the New York Military Academy and then went to Syracuse University. He also studied at Grenoble, France.
He began his career in the mailroom at William Morris, where he later became an agent. In 1979 he started his own agency, which he ran until he partnered with Wender.
Rosenstone is survived by longtime companion John O’Connor and a sister.
