ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — Duane Roland, one of the original guitarists in Southern rock band Molly Hatchet, died June 26. He was 53.

Roland died at his St. Augustine home from natural causes.

He played with the Jacksonville-based band from its formation in 1976 until 1990. He also played with the Southern Rock Allstars and was in a band called Gator Country, which included many of the early members of Molly Hatchet.

Roland was one of three guitarists in the original lineup of Molly Hatchet and is credited with co-writing some of the band’s biggest hits, including “Bloody Reunion” and “Boogie No More.” He left the band in 1990.
