Lace, embroidery and crochet make a comeback
Feeling rebellious? Try some needlepoint.
In what appears to be a knee-jerk reaction to modern minimalism, designers are working lace, embroidery, crochet and other crafts into everything from candlesticks to couches to cuckoo clocks.
To Barbara Summers of the American Society of Interior Designers, the trend is an antidote to L.A.’s hard-surfaced reality.
“It’s cozy and seems like we’re putting down roots,” she says. “In the fast-paced world, part of the psyche craves something familiar.”
